Lindbergh Meadow Restoration Project Seeks Comments
Swan Valley - Comments are requested concerning the Lindbergh Meadow Restoration Project. The meadow, located immediately north of the Lindbergh Lake Campground has a stream running along the north side of the meadow. The proposed project would restore the steam to its original route through the meadow. Comments must be submitted by June 28.
Several decades ago, the stream meandered southward across the meadow before dumping into Lindbergh Lake. Since then, the stream has been relocated to the north end of the meadow. According to a press release by the Swan Lake Ranger District, moving the stream to its original channel would allow more effective recharge of the meadow during spring runoff and increase water holding capacity.
The proposed project would begin during the summer of 2018, and the ranger district would like to issue a Decision Memo for the project this coming summer or fall.
Comments should be site specific and include a clearly identifiable location.
To comment, emails can be sent to [email protected] with the project name in the subject. Written comments can be hand delivered between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to the Swan Lake Ranger Station, or mailed to: Craig Kendall- Team Leader
Lindbergh Meadow Restoration Project, Swan Lake Ranger District, 200 Ranger Station Road, Bigfork, MT 59911.
