Seeley Lake Fire Department at Cory’s June 3

SEELEY LAKE – Join the Seeley Lake Fire Chief Bob Vanden Heuvel and volunteer firefighters and medical personnel June 3 starting at 12 p.m. at Cory’s Valley Market. Check out the ambulance, fire engine and other equipment and have a chance to talk to local responders. They will also have goodies for the children who visit.

Volunteers Needed for National Trails Day

LINCOLN - Saturday, June 3 is National Trails Day. The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation will be holding a volunteer workday event in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service.

Volunteers will clear trails around the Indian Meadows trailhead near Lincoln. There will be a tailgate barbecue after the workday.

Volunteers must be at least 12 and may be using pulaskis, loppers or cross cut saws to clear trees and do trail maintenance. The event starts at 8 a.m. at the Lincoln Ranger Station. There are limited spots available.

JIG – New Bible/Play Group for Ages 2-12

SEELEY LAKE – Joyful Noise Childcare is starting “JIG,” a new Bible/Play Group, June 20 for children ages two to 12. It will be held the third Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 155 Airport Road.

There will be: Dinner; Bible stories and lessons; activities and projects; songs and free play.

JIG is free to attend. Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Joyful Noise Childcare sponsor it. Questions or to register call or text Mary at 544-8551. 

Seeley Lake Library News

SEELEY LAKE - Registration for the 2017 Summer Reading Program, Build a Better World, begins Tuesday, June 6 at the Seeley Lake Library. Children who participate will keep track of the time they read or listen to books to earn prizes and an ice cream coupon. The program concludes with drawings for grand prizes on Thursday, Aug. 16. Those interested in participating may sign up throughout the summer.

The Seeley Lake Library is a branch of Missoula Public Library located at Seeley-Swan High School. The library is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. 

Swan Valley AARP Meeting, June 5

Swan Valley - The Swan Valley AARP will meet Monday, June 5 at noon at the Swan Valley Community Hall.  A potluck lunch will begin at 12:30 p.m., hosted by Dennis and Nina Monson.

Andrea Stevens will give a presentation on aquatic invasive species starting at 1:30 p.m.  The public is invited.

Bear Fair Teaches About Living with Bears

Swan Valley - Swan Valley Bear Resources will host an informational Bear Fair Saturday, June 3rd from 12 - 4 p.m. at the Swan Valley Community Hall, Highway 83, mile marker 42.5 in Condon. This community event will provide information about grizzly bear behavior, biology and conflict management.

The event will include presentations by Dr. Chris Servheen, former US Fish & Wildlife Service Grizzly Bear Recovery Coordinator; Tim Manley, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) Grizzly Bear Management Specialist; and Lori Roberts, FWP Grizzly Bear Research Biologist. In addition to the above presenters, bear management experts, professionals, organizations and companies will be available to provide information. Bear-related children’s activities will also be available.

Free pizza, provided by the Swan Valley Cafe, and beer, provided by Big Sky Brewing Company, will be available while supplies last.  For details visit SwanValleyConnections.org or call 754-3137.
