FRENCHTOWN - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks ran, jumped and threw to new levels setting personal records (PR) and in the process, breaking two school records at the Kim L. Haines Memorial track meet May 6.
Lady Blackhawks Cera Strumpfer and Alex Bohlman each set new school records. Strumpfer cleared 9 feet, 10 inches to break Shawna Nemmers 1996 record of 9 feet, 9 inches. The jump earned Strumpfer first place in the event.
Bohlman took first place and furthered her own school record from last week throwing the javelin nearly four feet farther to 144 feet, 1 inch.
Based on statistics available on Athletic.net, a dozen Blackhawks and a dozen Lady Blackhawks set 42 new personal records.
The Lady Blackhawks took third place at the meet earning 55 team points while the Boys earned 30 points for eighth place.
In addition to her first place in the javelin, Bohlman also took first in the 200-meter and third in the high jump.
Ashley Miller earned a fourth place and set a PR of 33 feet, 7.25 inches in the triple jump. Miller also set a PR in the long jump with a 15 foot, 5 inch jump.
The Lady Blackhawks 4x100 relay team placed second and 4x400 relay team came in third.
On the Boys side, the 4x400 relay came in first while the 4x100 relay took sixth.
Logan Maughan earned the team's only first place for an individual event completing the 800-meter with a time of 2:08.27.
Hunter Shelmerdine and Keaton Johnson earned fourth and fifth in the 400-meter while Nate Samuli took fifth in the javelin. Samuli's throw of 149 feet, 7 inches was a PR by nearly 20 feet.
Cameron Haines cleared 10 feet in the pole vault for sixth place and a new PR. Haines also set PRs in the 100 and 200-meter events.
The Blackhawks head to the District 13C meet at Frenchtown, May 12-13.
