Swan Song

SEELEY LAKE - Charlotte Ann (Bridgewater) West, 76 of Seeley Lake, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 at St. Patrick Hospital of heart failure.

Charlotte was born Aug. 22, 1940 in Livingston, Mont. to Gerald Bridgewater and Delores Miller Bridgewater. She graduated from Park County High School in Livingston and married Jon Guy West on July 7, 1959.

Early in their marriage, Charlotte and Jon lived in Glasgow and Circle. They settled in Fort Benton, Mont. from 1968 to 1988. During that time, Charlotte worked at First Security Bank and the Chouteau County Courthouse.

In 1988, they moved to Palmer, Alaska and then finished their careers in Bozeman, Mont. There, she worked at the MSU Registrar's Office. In 1993, they retired and settled in Seeley Lake.

Charlotte was a member of the Mountain Lakes Presbyterian Church for more than 20 years. She was very active in the Women's Ministry and she served regularly as a Deacon. Every Fourth of July, she made chocolate peanut clusters for the Bake Sale Fundraiser that helped local people in need.

In addition, she loved the Senior Center. She would take the time to really get to know people, reaching out to those who were lonely and isolated.

She was also supportive of Jon's hobbies of bird carving, decorative gourds and making jewelry. They shared his work at art shows both locally and across the state.

She was an avid cook, making sure that nobody went hungry should they stop and visit. No matter the function or location, she would always greet people with warmth and joy. She touched so many people. Her smile, spunky kindness, hospitality and gift of gab will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by: her husband Jon; her two sons and their families Guy West of San Diego, Calif., wife Olga Erickson West, grandchildren Holly and Cooper and Kelly West of Pleasant Hill, Calif., wife Tina Brennen West, granddaughter Easton, and Kaydee Parsons, her granddaughter-in-law; her sisters Gayle Cooke of Great Falls, Mont. and Janet Haagenson of Billings, Mont. and their families as well as many relatives.

A celebration ceremony of Charlotte's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1 at 575 Overland Trail Drive, Seeley Lake, her home for the last 25 years and a place that she truly loved.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions in her name can be made to the Mountain Lakes Presbyterian Church of Seeley Lake or the Senior Center of Seeley Lake. You may send condolences to Box 924, Seeley Lake, MT 59868.

Cremation was under the care of Garden City Funeral Home & Crematory.
