SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks did not let the threatening clouds douse their game April 25 at Double Arrow Golf Course. The Boys finished with a score of 252, ten strokes ahead of Big Fork and Thompson Falls who were tied in second. All five Blackhawks finished in the top 15.
Malachi Nicholas led the Blackhawks shooting just five over par with a 77, his best score of the season. Malachi tied for first place with Bigfork's Colton Stodgill for individual scores.
Malachi and Stodgill played hole number one for a second time to break the tie. Malachi had to settle for second place after he overshot the green on his second stroke and then missed a medium putt while Stodgill finished in four strokes.
"The Boys played really well. They are all capable of playing that way any day of the week," said Blackhawks Head Coach Wayne Cahoon.
Cahoon was pleased with Bo Jungers' score of 91 saying that Jungers has been around the 104 mark all year. Shooting under 100 qualifies Jungers for state.
The Blackhawks now have a full team qualified for state May 16-17 on Double Arrow's course.
Shane Lindemer also had a great game finishing up with an 89 while McKinley Nicholas finished with 86 strokes.
The Lady Blackhawks' lone golfer, Jessie Hood shot a 109. She tied with Isabella Santistevan of Bigfork for fourth in individual scoring. Hood qualified for state earlier in the season.
The Blackhawks ended their week at the Anaconda/Deer Lodge Invitational at Old Works Golf Course in Anaconda.
The boys took third place behind Three Forks and Townsend.
McKinley shot an 82 earning second place for individuals. Lindemer and Malachi shot 94s while Jungers had 97 strokes.
Jessie Hood shot a 114 for the Lady Blackhawks.
This week the team spends May 1-2 in Missoula at the Loyola Sacred Heart Invitational before heading to the St. Regis Invite May 4.
