SEELEY LAKE – It wouldn't be St. Patrick's Day in Seeley Lake without the Seniors Center Annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner, Silent Auction and Cake Walk. Even though the celebration fell March 11, nearly a week before the actual day, the traditional corned beef, cabbage and Irish stew prepared the nearly 100 attendees for St. Patrick's Day March 17.
"Overall I think everyone had a very good time," said Senior Center President Boyd Gossard. "It was a good dinner, good cake walk and auctions and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun."
For those that wanted more of a sweet treat than the shamrock cookies and green lemonade, the cake walk and silent auction had plenty to offer. Attendees hoped for the luck of the Irish as they strutted around the numbered circle to Irish tunes or placed their bids on silent auction items. Mary Kenny struck gold winning the 50/50 drawing.
Gossard said he was thankful for everyone who brought items and those who purchased the items.
This is one of the Senior Center's major fundraisers. Other fundraisers include the Hunter's Breakfast in October and Christmas Bazaar in November.
"We really appreciate everyone who attended and the volunteers," said Gossard. Gossard added they would not be able to offer the services to the seniors in the area without the community support.
