Mega Fires and Trails at Next Council Meeting

SEELEY LAKE - Cory Calnan of the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation will kick off the meeting of the Seeley Lake Community Council next Monday at 6 p.m. with a discussion of Mega Fires.

Next will be Mike Hopkins, our new Montana House Representative. He will update us on the current legislative session in Helena.

Jenny Rohrer will give a presentation on the Seeley Lake Trails Project Survey and encourage attendees to take the survey.

Anne Beach, executive director of the Seeley Lake Community Foundation, will talk about plans for two trail projects: to rehabilitate the existing trail from Cory’s Valley Market to the Veterans Memorial and to build a new trail that would run from the entrance to the Double Arrow Ranch to Cory’s Valley Market, including a bridge over Morrell Creek.

Financing of these two projects will, hopefully, come from a grant from the Transportation Alternative. Beach is asking for an endorsement of that grant application from the council.

Like always, there will be an opportunity for public comments on non-agenda items.

The informal part of the meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. next Monday, March 13, at the Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitors Center, 2920 Highway 83, with pizza and sodas.
