Community Foundation Awards Small Grants

SEELEY LAKE — The Seeley Lake Community Foundation (SLCF) is proud to announce its small grant awards for the cycle ending Jan. 31.

The SLCF is a locally driven and locally supported foundation that invests in the health and prosperity of the Seeley Lake Community. SLCF grants support art and culture, community and economic development, basic human needs, education and natural resources and conservation.

Board President Carla Schade said, “Recently the Seeley Lake Community Foundation received many worthwhile requests for its small grants program.  We are excited that so many organizations are committed to assisting and improving our community.  Thank you to all those who support their efforts and enabled the Foundation to provide financial resources to several projects.”

Foundation small grant recipients this funding cycle included:

Seeley Lake Elementary School - Grant funding covers curriculum, supplies and materials for a two-day community based Phlight Club Academy, a life changing training provided to all seventh and eighth grade students.

• Montana Natural Resources Youth Camp - Funding will provide two full camp scholarships to Seeley-Swan students ages 14-18.

• Alpine Artisans - Funding will assist the 2017 Maclean Festival to expand on the positive publicity and economic benefit provided by the 2015 Maclean Festival.

• Seeley Swan High School - Funding will provide an educational program that affords local high school students creative writing opportunities and a service learning project within the Blackfoot River watershed area.

The SLCF was founded in 1999 by a handful of local residents who wanted to give back to their community. What started from a single, $250 donation has now grown into an endowment of over $525,000 dedicated to the Seeley Lake Community.
