Christmas

It is a mere few days from one of the greatest celebrations of the year. This will be our 24th year celebrating the Christmas season in Seeley Lake. And though a few times we have spent Christmas with family elsewhere, we still have been in Seeley Lake during the Christmas season, and continue to enjoy many of the things our small town has to offer.

From the friendly faces and voices at every business we go to, to the wonderful opportunity to hunt for a Christmas tree out in the forest, to the guaranteed white covering on the ground, to the great friends and family we get to spend time with, Christmas in Seeley Lake is always something to be grateful for.

There are so many things to thank God for, in this season and in all others. But let’s remember to thank Him for the great gift He gave us by sending His son Jesus to be born in that lowly manger in the small town of Bethlehem a couple of thousand years ago.

Jesus birth is the most impactful birth the world has ever known or will ever know and it is entirely appropriate to make it the greatest birthday celebration of every year. Jesus’s birth enabled God to become fully human. He lived a sinless perfect life in order to offer the perfect sacrifice to pay the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross. Yet not ending there dead in the grave, but defeating death to rise again on the third day that He might ascend into heaven and prepare an eternal place there for us who believe in Him. What a great thing to celebrate!

So, as you open gifts, consume feasts, visit with loved ones, play games, drink eggnog or hot cider, frolic in the snow in whatever method you choose and stay warm in front of real fires burning real wood, give thanks to God for giving us the greatest gift the world has ever known which started with Jesus’s birth.

Merry Christmas!
