Swan Song
SWAN VALLEY - David Philip Solum went to glory Nov. 17 at 60 years of age from a car accident outside of Seeley Lake, Montana.
David Philip Solum was born Oct. 26, 1956 in Spring Grove, Minn. to Elling Oliver and Grace Lucille Flatten Solum.
David grew up in a home of faith, love and farming and that foundation laid his character for his entire life. His father was a hard worker and his mother was filled with faith, prayer and love. David's home was overflowing with sons: Robert, Paul, Dale, John, George, Karl and of course, David.
David married Joanne Webster in his early 20's and they raised six Godly children: Matthew, Mark, Laura, Trisha, Rick, Michelle and grandchildren unknown whom he loved and prayed for with all of his heart.
In later life, David married Celeste Bishop. Together they walked in devout faith enjoying the Holy Scriptures, prayer and worship.
David loved Montana from its rugged peaks, trees, stunning sunsets, wildflowers, lakes and snow. David and Celeste had an organic farm with goats, chickens, fruits and vegetables. They loved to garden, fish, canoe, hike, wildcraft and enjoy the fruits thereof.
David was an avid reader and his home is filled with books. Each day David arose and after reflection upon our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and His Word, David would check the news going always to Steve Quayle's site first, a man he has admired for many years.
David's passions were Jesus Christ and being a woodsman. He loved timber from large majestic trees to the final milled product. At the time of his death he was on his way to Pyramid Mountain Lumber, a job that he thoroughly enjoyed. The Pyramid family has been a great comfort during this time.
Through Pyramid's generosity David and Celeste were able to make their home like the Garden of Eden filled with bark paths, greenhouses and raised beds filled with organic vegetables. Pyramid Lumber also warmed their home during the cold Montana winters. As I write, Pyramid Lumber is crafting a Blue Stain Pine casket to hold David's remains for his eternal journey.
David is survived by his wife Celeste Solum, brothers John, Dale, George and Karl Solum; his children Matthew, Mark, Laura, Trisha, Rick and Michelle. David was preceded in death by his brother Robert Solum.
David and Celeste desire to thank the community, fire fighters, law enforcement, coroner and all who have extended such warmth and kindness to us during this time of tragedy.
David's heart is that each one of you come to faith in Jesus Christ and walk in the abundance, joy, love and courage of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. David wholeheartedly embraced his mother's favorite passage of Scripture, Psalm 23.
David will be buried at the Seeley Lake Cemetery-TBA
