Annual Giving Tree Opportunity Available Nov. 22-Dec. 13

SEELEY LAKE - It’s time again for the annual “Giving Tree” sponsored by the Mountain Lakes Presbyterian Women. The tree will be set up in Cory’s Valley Market on Tuesday, Nov. 22 and will be available for those wishing to purchase gifts for children in the Seeley Lake community.

There are two cards for each child (one for clothing, one for a toy) listing age, gender and a gift to purchase. Parents or guardians have indicated clothing items and toys that are needed and/or wanted by the children.

To participate, select a card and sign it out at the check stand. Then purchase the item indicated on the card and return the UNWRAPPED BOXED GIFT (together with the card) to Cory’s Valley Market no later than Tuesday, Dec. 13.

The gifts will be wrapped, labeled and given to the families a few days before Christmas.

The Rest of the Salami Recipe

Readers have asked for the rest of the salami recipe from the Nov. 17 issue with the story “Wild Game Grinding.” We apologize for the omission. For the full recipe visit http://www.seeleylake.com

After refrigerating the elk salami for 24 hours, salami can be boiled or baked.

If baked, rolls can be wrapped in tinfoil with holes punctured and placed on a rack over a pan of water to steam. Salami should be cooked thoroughly at 325 degrees for about two hours.

If boiled, meats can be boiled for 45 minutes and then fried in a pan.

Seeley Lake Library News

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Library Book Club will be discussing Patrick deWitt’s “The Sisters Brothers” Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. In this book, set in the 1850s frontier, deWitt tells the story of Charlie and Eli Sisters as they travel from Oregon to California to kill a prospector named Hermann Kermit Warm. This book has been described as a darkly comic, outrageously inventive novel that offers readers a decidedly off-center view of the wild west. All are invited to join in the discussion. Books are available at the checkout desk.

During the week of Thanksgiving, the library will be open Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Seeley Lake Library will be accepting food for fines Dec. 4-11. Patrons who bring in nonperishable food items will have any overdue fines waived. This does not apply to fines accumulated for lost or damaged items. The food will be donated to the Seeley Lake Food Bank.

The library is a branch of Missoula Public Library located at Seeley-Swan High School and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
