KALISPELL – The Blackhawks Cross Country team placed two runners in the top 15 medal winners at the state meet held at the Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Mont. Oct. 22.
Cera Strumpfer placed ninth with a personal best of 20:28.97. She ran a very fast 6:22 first mile time.
Logan Maughan finished 10th with a time of 17:12.31 passing six runners at the end.
Running in only his third race of the year, Avery Smith knocked 1:06 off his best time. Playing in a football game the night before, sleeping in his own bed and eating home-cooked food must have kept him fresh for his state run as he placed second on the team.
Cameron Haines was third with a slight personal record (PR) of 18:24.
Elizabeth Done ran a personal best by almost a minute finishing in 23:04.
Another dual athlete Chloe Robbins posted a personal best by more than two minutes finishing in 31:34.20.
The boy's team was disappointed that they didn't place higher than seventh place. However, they know what they need to do next year to reach their goal.
Thank you to all the friends and families that supported the team at State. It meant so much to have you there.
