Will Banks ran 34 seconds faster than his personal record finishing in 22:59.25 at the 7 on 7 meet. He also ran even splits, 7:06 per mile, for the first two miles.
Chloe Robbins ran her best first mile completing it in 9:09. She finished in 35th place with a time of 34:55.
HELENA - It's always exciting to run in the 7 on 7 races, especially against Bozeman High School, the largest AA school in the state that usually wins boys and girls state cross country. Each school puts in their number one girl and boy runners in Race 1 and so forth down to Race 7, with their top seven runners.
Seeley-Swan High School (SSHS) did not have a runner for each race. However the boys still took third in the C Division without Cameron Haines and Avery Smith.
Beginning with Race 7, Will Banks and Amber Springer ran the three, hilly one-mile loops with Banks achieving a 34-second personal record (PR)! He sprinted in the last 250 meters as his teammates and sister cheered him on. Banks achieves a first on the team running even splits for the first and second mile.
Logan Maughan also ran a slight PR with a destination of beating the top three girl runners from Bozeman. He ran with a Big Sky runner for the entire race.
The whole team ran great first miles. They are working hard to push the second and third miles.
Upcoming is the final race of the season at Linda Vista Golf Course in Missoula, Oct. 12. This will also be the final race for the Seeley Lake Middle School. The race is sponsored by Runner's Edge.
