Blackhawks Shine at Mountain West

MISSOULA – Cool fall temperatures favored "cool" running results from the Seeley-Swan High School Blackhawks Cross Country team Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Mountain West Meet in Missoula. The Blackhawks competed against many large teams from Montana, Washington and Idaho. Every member on the team scored a season personal record (PR) and/or a personal best.

The boys team had seven runners at the meet, a first for the Blackhawks. They ran in the varsity race of 410 runners. They placed second among the Class C teams between Manhattan Christian in first and Arlee in third.

It was exciting to see Cera Strumpfer, Elizabeth Done and Amber Springer cut a minute or more off their times as some of the boys did. The girls competed in the varsity race against 359 runners from all classes across the state.

Logan Maughan and Strumpfer continued to lead their team's stats.

The team travels to Thompson Falls for a meet Thursday and then to Hamilton to run again on Saturday, Oct. 1
