SWAN VALLEY - The Swan Valley American Legion Auxiliary Post 63 hosted their first fundraiser since officially reorganizing earlier this year. The August Auxiliary Fling included an old fashion barbecue, raffle items, live auction, live music and dancing.
The Ladies Auxiliary decided to hold a summer barbecue and dance after the Swan Valley Emergency Services quit holding their Firemen's Ball.
"So we thought, OK girls, this is a good opportunity to have a dance," said Auxiliary Chair Ronda Feucht. "We will see how it works."
Veterans were honored with a carnation as a way to recognize their service. Attendees enjoyed hamburgers, hotdogs, beans and potato salad before participating in the live auction and kicking up their heels to the KGB Band.
All funds raised at the event will go towards supporting Swan Valley veterans. This includes continuing to hold luncheons on Veterans and Memorial Day and finding other ways to support them throughout the year. They are also looking forward to sending a high school girl to Girl's State next year.
Currently there are 17 members of the Auxiliary. To be a member, one must have a father or grandfather who is a veteran or husband who is a member of the American Legion. To become a member or for more information contact Feucht on Facebook.
