Get Behind It, Work Out the Bugs

SEELEY LAKE - First, good on Chris Stout for taking the initiative and organizing the Bob Marshall Wilderness Music Festival. Work the bugs out and get the business community on board and you will have a nice annual event which will advertise and promote Seeley Lake as the wonderful recreation area it is.

Second, good on Curt Friede for raising many valid concerns about the event and identifying some of the bugs. Brick and mortar businesses always take a hit of sorts when outside food and beer vendors come to town for the big weekends but the community as a whole probably benefits in the long run.

Local neighbors to the event may have concerns too but heck, give ‘em tickets and invite ‘em in gratis next year.

I am a neighbor to the event and endured no problems whatsoever. The concert goers were polite and courteous.  The event could become a good annual event if the local community gets behind it and helps work out the bugs rather than criticize.

Next year I’ll have a garage sale and encourage all my neighbors to do the same on that weekend. The community could piggy-back all kinds of other events on this promotion.

Ed Coyle at the Key Bar Resort (now the Filling Station) used to have a regatta which drew thousands. The sky’s the limit.
