Please Pause for Pets and People

Well, it seems I put the cart before the horse on saying we have curbed the running dogs. After driving down Riverview every other day, I saw a pack of five dogs running all together on the street and on the sidewalk.

People, this is nuts. What are you thinking? Yes, I recognized four of the dogs so beware, I have called animal control. The people who live on this street do not have to put up with this. They can’t even walk the sidewalk or walk their dogs on a leash without harassment.

People, you are going to end up with big fines when these dogs are picked up and I bet none of them have had their shots!!!! What you people are doing is ruining this area for the people who take care of their dogs and it has to end!!

I ask everyone living on Riverview to sign a petition, get pictures of the dogs and get Animal Control up here, for this is shameful and the owners of these dogs should be ashamed and held responsible. And if your dog is picked up and you do not go and pay the fine and take your dog home, don’t get another dog or I will report you! To leave a dog at Animal Control is cruel. Why not try to be responsible and civilized instead of making every one on your street miserable.

Another sad note! I was walking my little dogs at 11 p.m. about three weeks ago on a late potty run, when a shot rang out about 200 feet from my house. It was scary as I was standing on my driveway. Did I want to report it? Yes, but I was told by a deputy unless I knew who it was not to call.

Well, I have been around gun shots for years but not at 11 p.m. I did not see the person who did it but I know where it came from.

The next day I watched a deer walking on three legs leaving a bloody trail on my property and going back in to the trees. I did not see her again until a week ago. She has no leg from the knee down and is pregnant and, of course, no way to escape from a lion or dog and protect her baby.

How sick does someone have to be to do such a thing?? They should go to jail for at least a year!! The shot came from a house, there was no car at all, it was pitch dark! What kind of an idiot would do this? We found the bloody spot where she was shot 30 feet off of Cedar Lane.

Well, I wanted this to be a happy column but truth needs to be told. There is still the Kimble dog missing and believed to be seen running on the highway at Salmon Lake. If someone picked this dog up, although it had no tags on it, you should have advertised it or called Animal Control about a lost and found dog. If you have the dog please call me and I will meet you or have the owners meet you. Do the right thing. People, dogs are stolen all the time. Keep your dogs close. Lions are also a threat!

Thanks to the Bohlmans for welcoming in a darling lab who had wandered away. As I hear it, he does this a lot. Please keep your dog home before something happens to him. You are lucky the Bohlmans took such loving care of him. Blessing to the Bohlmans.

The night I was out with my little dogs and the shot was fired, there were about 20 wild turkey back on my acres. Sounded like they were having a party. They were sure having a time and it was fun to listen to them. My question is, “Do turkeys drink?” Well, you need a ha, ha after this column.

My next column will be about our wonderful bake sale and we are so grateful to all who help make it a success. We so appreciate it and it so helps. Blessings to all.
