Open Hands, Open Hearts

SEELEY LAKE - Loving Hearts Thrift Store held their annual Fashion Show and Luncheon Saturday, May 21. In addition to enjoying a lunch and entertainment, those in attendance saw the latest fashions at Loving Hearts modeled by volunteers and were updated on the giving through Loving Hearts.

Volunteer coordinator Cassy Swain said that since January, Loving Hearts has given $4,915 back to the community helping those in need after emergency financial hardship or offering short-term help with regular bills. In 2015, Loving Hearts gave $18,225 back to the community. And since January 1989, they have given $58,006 in benevolences.

"Two dollars here. One dollar there. It all adds up," said Swain. "We not only help people financially in this community, we also give smiles and give hugs to those that need them."

Guest speaker Rob Green highlighted in his speech that Loving Hearts is fulfilling the mission laid out in the book of Matthew 25:40-45 in which Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

"The dollars and cents add up," said Green. "If you are thirsty, they pay your water bill. If you need clothes, they clothe you. If you are cold, they will pay your heat bill."

Green added another treasure he has found is the salvation message is free along with Bibles at Loving Hearts.
