Dave Strohmaier has my vote in our June 7 Missoula County Commissioner primary. Two years ago I encouraged Dave to run for House District 92 in northeast Missoula City and County. What a great job he did, traveling the county, experiencing the landscape, knocking on doors, meeting people and learning about issues.
Because Northeast Missoula County is part of my Senate District, I’ve had the opportunity to learn about the hardworking people who are making great strides to preserve, protect and enhance the area. I’ve watched Commissioner Jean Curtiss run controversial meetings in the area where I’m pleased to see, she can call on people by name, including kids. I’ve observed her encouraging everyone to talk and finally ending with a plan for moving forward.
Jean was raised in Seeley and knows most people. She’s a down-to-earth person. She advocates for the economic, environmental, social and cultural potential of the area. I believe Dave Strohmaier will offer the same kind of leadership so needed in northeast Missoula County where growth will inevitably happen and, with good planning, will provide better work and recreation opportunities for residents and visitors.
I don’t always agree with Jean. I know both Jean and Dave have said at times they will disagree but I believe they will move the county forward. And they will respect the history, lands, waters and values of people in the City of Missoula and most certainly in rural Missoula County.
I hope you will make your voice heard by voting on June 7. I hope you will vote for Dave Strohmaier for County Commissioner.
