Free Developmental and Preschool Screening, May 13
SEELEY LAKE - A free Developmental and Preschool Screening Clinic for children ages 0 to 5 for Seeley Lake and Swan Valley School Districts will be held Friday, May 13 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Seeley Lake Elementary (SLE) School. Please call SLE at 406-677-2265 to schedule an appointment for your child’s screening or to receive more information.
This free screening will include gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication concepts, communication skills, hearing and vision screening.

SEELEY LAKE - There will be a memorial service for Mary Jean Gibson May 14 at 1 p.m. at Faith Chapel in Seeley Lake.
Shooting Range Clean-up, May 15
SEELEY LAKE - Join members of the Wilderness Sportsman’s Club at the shooting range on Cottonwood Lakes Road Sunday, May 15 starting at 9:30 a.m. for their annual spring clean-up event. Bring hand tools.
Seeley-Swan Food Bank closed May 17
SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley-Swan Community Food Bank will be closed May 17 due to lack of volunteers. It will be open regular hours the following Tuesday, May 23 from 12-4 p.m. For more information or to volunteer call Sheree Hill at 402-206-1720.

SWAN VALLEY - The community is invited to attend the Swan Valley Elementary (SVE) Spring Concert May 17 at 7 p.m. The concert will be held at SVE.
Public Invited to Seeley Lake Open House, May 19
SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Ranger District will host a community open house at the Big Larch Campground in the amphitheater area Thursday, May 19 from 5 - 7 p.m.
The event is open to the public and is an opportunity for members of the public to meet with District Ranger Rachel Feigley and her staff to discuss both specific project information as well as general fieldwork the district has planned for the summer.
The event will not include formal presentations but district staff will be on hand to answer any questions members of the public might have about district activities. Missoula Resource Advisory Committee Seeking Projects
MISSOULA – The Missoula County Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) is seeking proposals for new projects to be funded/obligated in 2017. Under Title II of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self Determination Act (SRS), projects must provide benefit to National Forest System lands and ecosystems within Missoula County. Project proposals must be received at the Ninemile Ranger District Office at 20325 Remount Road Huson, MT 59846 by close of business May 16, 2016. The original SRS legislation of 2000 was recently reauthorized by Congress for a two year period.

Under SRS legislation, the Missoula County Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) has authority to recommend projects funded under Title II. Projects that qualify for Title II funding may occur on federal or non-federal land but must show a direct benefit to National Forest System lands.
The Act specifies that project objectives may include: roads, trails, infrastructure maintenance or obliteration; soil productivity improvement; improvements in forest ecosystem health; watershed restoration and maintenance; maintenance and improvement of wildlife and fish habitat; control of noxious and exotic weeds and re-establishment of native species. At least 50 percent of all Title II funds must be used for projects that are primarily dedicated to road maintenance, decommissioning, or obliteration; or restoration of streams and watersheds.
