Greenough/Potomac Fire Service Area Board of Trustees ~ One, Three-year Term

May 3 Elections

Jennifer Iverson - Potomac Fire Board

Biography: I am a fifth generation Montanan and returned to Potomac four years ago.  I have been married to Justin Iverson for 16 years, which has provided me with family ties to the Potomac Valley since college. I enjoy cooking, baking, gardening, quilting and reading.

Qualifying experience or skills/strengths for the Fire Board position: As a certified Project Management Professional, I have extensive experience in facilitating meetings, overseeing project budgets, staffing, schedules and communicating well, in writing and verbally, with team members for the successful completion of the project. I am used to organizing teams, work and communications for more effective and cohesive teamwork and ensuring that the necessary work is completed on schedule. I have previously served on two non-profit boards where a key role for board members was to facilitate fundraising efforts as well as oversight of budget and general operations of the non-profit.

Why do you want to be on the board?  I have seen the value that the department brings to our community and want to ensure that the department is able to continue to provide that value for generations to come. I want to lend my project management, fundraising and general organizational skills to the value that the department provides. I want to ensure that the department continues to have the resources needed to adequately train and equip our volunteers to respond to fire, rescue or medical emergencies.

What would you like to see changed or what issues would you address if elected? I would like to ensure that the department's fire and medical personal continue to receive the necessary trainings to be able to safely respond to emergency calls and provide quality care to our community. I want to ensure that the department continues to have an adequate supply of safe, well maintained equipment and fire fighting gear.

What challenges to you see facing the board and the district in the near future? Sustainable funding for general operations as well as updating and or replacing equipment as technology changes. As the community grows there will be a greater need for more fire and medical response personnel.
