Blackhawks Tear Up the Track Over Spring Break

The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks had a pair of track meets last week. The team headed to Corvallis April 7 for the Florence/Darby Invitational and then was off to the Bigfork Invitational April 9 in Bigfork. Both events attracted class A, B and C schools.

The Lady Blackhawks pulled off a third place victory in Corvallis and tied for second in Bigfork despite having some of their top athletes out for spring break.

Alex Bohlman led the Ladies, taking first in the 100-meter, first in the javelin and first in the high jump at both events. Bohlman was also on the winning 1600-meter relay team in Corvallis.

Bohlman's 138 feet, 10 inch javelin throw at Corvallis furthered her own school record by more than eight feet. She also set a new personal record in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet, 3 inches at Bigfork.

Other top finishers for the Ladies included Lily Mercer, Paige Holmes and Cera Strumpfer. Mercer earned second places in the 400-meter at both events. Holmes took second in the 300-meter hurdles at both events while Strumpfer secured second at both events in the pole vault.

On the Boy's side, Quinton Johnson continued to finish in the top six of the 110 and 300-meter hurdles. He took third in the 110 at Bigfork and fifth in the 300 at both events.

Other top boys included Hunter Shelmerdine who earned a third and fourth in the 400-meter and Mitch Parcell who took third in the 800 and fifth in the 1600-meter at Bigfork.

The Blackhawks head to Missoula for the Missoula County Public Schools Invitational April 16 with events starting at 10 a.m.
