MDT Proposes Safety Improvements on Highway 83 and Interstate 90

SEELEY LAKE & DRUMMOND - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to install safety improvements on Highway 83 and Interstate 90 in the Seeley Lake and Drummond areas. The proposed project includes the following work at three sites:

• Site 1: Highway 83 north of Seeley Lake between reference posts 19.2 and 19.7: Install a northbound advance intersection sign, nameplate and actuated flasher assembly for northbound traffic and upgrade the intersection signing for southbound traffic. The signs and flasher are intended to provide advance warning of the intersection at Boy Scout Road.

• Site 2: Eastbound and westbound Interstate 90 west of Drummond between reference posts 140.8 and 141.2: Install “Icy Spots Next ½ Mile” signs.

• Site 3: Eastbound on Interstate 90 at Gold Creek interchange between reference posts 166.0 and 166.2: Install a “Watch for Ice on Bridge” sign.

The purpose of the proposed work is to enhance roadway safety for the traveling public by providing enhanced warning as outlined above.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in the summer of 2017, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations are anticipated.
