SLCF Announces Small Grant Recipients

SEELEY LAKE — The Seeley Lake Community Foundation (SLCF) is proud to announce its small grant awards for the cycle ending Jan. 31. The next funding cycle ends June 30.

The SLCF is a locally driven and locally supported foundation that invests in the health and prosperity of the Seeley Lake Community. SLCF grants support art & culture, community & economic development, basic human needs, education and natural resources and conservation.

Carla Schade, Board President said, “Recently the Seeley Lake Community Foundation received many worthwhile requests for its small grants program. Unfortunately, the SLCF is unable to fund every need but we are excited that so many organizations are committed to assisting and improving our community. Thank you to all those who support their efforts and enabled the SLCF to provide financial resources to several projects.”

SLCF small grant recipients this funding cycle include:

• Alpine Artisans: Funding to expand and enhance advanced publicity for the 2016 “In the Footsteps of Norman Maclean Festival” to be held in 2017.

Seeley Lake Elementary School: brings a CRM (Community Resiliency Model) training to Seeley Lake to train “first responders” who will pass this education on to elementary students.

• Sparrow’s Vine: supporting the development of curriculum and mobile office for expanded parenting education programs.

The Nature Conservancy: partial funding to complete a study of community-based models intended to help inform long-term outcomes of the Clearwater Blackfoot Project west of Seeley Lake.

• Seeley Lake Rural Fire District: batteries to support the smoke detector distribution program.

• Sullivan Memorial Hall: partial funding for ongoing maintenance.

The SLCF was founded in 1999 by a handful of local residents who wanted to give back to their community. What started from a single, $250 donation has now grown into an endowment of over $525,000 dedicated to the Seeley Lake Community.
