Since Republican David "Doc" Moore is not running for House District 92 (HD 92), Condon resident Larry Dunham submitted his application for the Republican ticket. "I will get informed, get involved, get it right," said Dunham. "My belief is to act, not react and trust but verify." HD 92 includes Condon, Seeley Lake, Clearwater Junction, Potomac, Bonner, Milltown, East Missoula, Turah and Clinton.
Dunham was raised in Bozeman, Mont. and graduated from Montana State University, Bozeman. Upon retirement from owning his own landscaping and lawn maintenance business in Washington State, he and his wife returned to Montana settling in the Swan Valley. Since retirement, Dunham has been able to engage in politics, which has always interested him.
Dunham offers a well-rounded background to fit the needs and requirements for the HD92 representative. He has been elected to the Swan Valley Community Council and served three years. He has been a volunteer with the Swan Valley-Condon Comprehensive Plan and Seeley Lake Economic Development Committee.
During his time with the council and economic development committee, Dunham tried to educate people about what was possible in the area within the current laws and regulations.
Dunham served two terms on the Youth Justice Council of the Montana Board of Crime Control.
"This service has given me a unique vision into the problems Montana faces regarding its troubled youth," said Dunham. Dunham feels one of the biggest problems facing Montana youth is the lack of mental health follow up after a teen has been in trouble with using drugs and is then released as 'rehabilitated.' Another is the lack of facilitator financing, such as Medicare, to help parents deal with mental problems with their teens.
Dunham's other qualifications include: Serving as a Poll Manager Election Judge for Missoula County; Business owner in Washington State; marketing experience with Ford Motor Company and Sharp Electronics; and more than 13 years as an financial officer at various banks.
One of his priorities is to investigate when the soft money, provided by the federal government, is gone, how will Montana pay for the expanded Medicaid and Obamacare.
Dunham is a member of the National Rifle Association and believes in the second amendment right to keep and bear arms.
"Our Constitutional rights are under assault from liberals, some judges and some organizations," said Dunham. "My belief is to preserve the Constitution of the United States. This is a government of the people, by the people and for the people."
Dunham appreciates everyone who voted for him in the 2014 election. He can be reached at dunham.larry@gmail.com or 406-754-3376.
