SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Library Book Club will be discussing Eleanor Brown’s “The Weird Sisters” Thursday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. in the library. This debut novel tells the story of three sisters who return home to their rural Ohio college town when their mother undergoes treatment for cancer.

The humor, lyricism, and realism characterizing this book will appeal to fans of modern fiction as well as stories of family. All are invited to join in the discussion. Books are available at the checkout desk.

The Seeley Lake Library is a branch of Missoula Public Library located at Seeley-Swan High School.

During the Winter Break, the library will be open to the public Tuesday, Dec. 22 from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29 from 10 a.m. -3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. 

Spook Lake Road Closed for Log Haul Traffic

 SEELEY LAKE - For public safety the Seeley Lake Ranger District has closed the Spook Lake Road (#4337) to snowmobile use while heavy truck traffic is ongoing for a Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) timber sale. The heavy truck traffic is associated with the DNRC Belmont Timber Sale southwest of Placid Lake.

 The closure is in place from milepost 0 (junction with Placid Creek Road #349) to milepost 10.38 from the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. The road is open and available for use outside of the hours listed above and on the weekends and holidays (Dec. 25 and Jan. 1).

 The closure will remain in place until the timber haul work is completed. For details on this closure, alternate snowmobile trails, and updates on the status of the road please contact the Seeley Lake Ranger District at 406 677-2233.

Public Meetings Scheduled to Gather Comments on 2016-17 Hunting Season Proposals

   HELENA - Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) will hold twelve meetings in west-central Montana in January to gather comments on proposed 2016-17 hunting season regulations.

The tentative rules and regulations, available for review and comment online now at fwp.mt.gov, were approved by the Fish and Wildlife Commission earlier this month, and include statewide and local regulations for antelope, black bear, bighorn sheep, bison, deer, elk, moose, mountain goat, mountain lion and upland game birds.

•      Hamilton:  Tuesday Jan. 5, Bitterroot River Inn (139 Bitterroot Plaza Dr.)

•      Philipsburg:  Monday, Jan. 11, Granite County Museum (135 S. Sansome St.)

All meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. and are an opportunity to ask questions and provide comment. The Fish and Wildlife Commission will consider public comments before making final decisions at its February meeting in Helena.
