The Flathead Avalanche Center in partnership with the Flathead County Search and Rescue Association and the North Valley Rescue Association, recently released a 30 second public safety awareness video.
The video, “Don’t Let This Be Your Last Ride”, takes viewers to a mountain backcountry scene in winter, with inviting slopes to play on. Two snowmobilers take to the slope and get caught in an avalanche. The video ends with three basic reminders, “Get the Gear, Get the Training, Get the Forecast.”
The video was created to encourage skiers, snowmobilers and others recreating in the backcountry during winter to learn about avalanche safety and take advantage of the avalanche safety programs.
