Marx Announces Candidacy for State Legislature

MISSOULA – Addrien Marx, a longtime businesswoman and resident of Seeley Lake, has announced her run for the Montana State Legislature. She is running to represent the citizens of House District 92, which encompasses the towns and communities surrounding Condon, Seeley Lake, Potomac, Bonner, Milltown, East Missoula and Clinton.

Marx has a long history of community involvement and a proven commitment to embracing diverse opinions. "I know that I can work with and respect different viewpoints. In fact, better solutions come from collaboration. I have been a consensus builder all my life and that is what we need right now in Helena-people who can work across the aisle to do what's right for Montana."

Marx has owned the Rovero's Ace Hardware and Conoco Gas Station in downtown Seeley Lake for more than 30 years. She grew up in Western Montana and was a teacher before owning her first small business. She raised four children in Seeley Lake and has made it a priority to give back every chance she could-from serving on the Seeley Lake Chamber of Commerce, Community Council and Community Foundation to her work on the Missoula County School Board, Fort Missoula Historical Museum and the Open Lands Committee for Missoula County.

Throughout her time in Seeley Lake, one of Marx's strongest passions has been protecting the timber heritage and industry in Western Montana while also preserving our outdoor traditions and way of life. She understands the struggles that face timber families, local mill owners and recreationalists struggling to make a living and she has been actively involved working to find solutions to keep Montana's timber industry strong and viable.

"What motivates me first and foremost is preserving our state's heritage and values. From better wage and job opportunities to our outdoor heritage to top-notch education and affordable health care, I understand what we need to do to maintain and strengthen Montanans' lives in this unique and special place we call home."

After employing around 20 people on a small business payroll for years, Marx believes we can do more to get high-paying jobs back in our urban and rural areas. She has built relationships throughout the district and has utilized those relationships to bring diverse groups together to find common ground and workable solutions.

Marx sees serving in the legislature as an extension of her interest in public service and another opportunity to represent and support the people of this district.

Marx runs as a moderate Democrat. Currently, there is no other Democrat or Republican filed to run for House District 92.
