CONDON - Swan Valley Emergency Services responded to a house fire on Elvis Presley Boulevard in Condon Thursday, Nov. 19 just after 12 p.m. Volunteer firefighters were able to contain the fire to the utility room. No one was home when the fire started.
Swan Valley Volunteer Fire Chief Randy Williams said the call came at 12:14 p.m. after a neighbor stopped by the home to let the dog out. According to Williams the neighbor noticed smoke and called 9-1-1.
The volunteers responded with two engines and two water tenders carrying 2,500 and 3,000 gallons of water each. Williams was impressed with their less than 20-minute response time since they had to travel more than 10 miles from the station.
Williams said flames were visible in the utility room when they arrived. Two volunteers entered the structure and quickly contained the flames.
“I’m glad we were able to stop the fire where it was and it didn’t continue,” said Williams.
The cause is still under investigation. No foul play is suspected.
