There are no exposed ends on Nordique's patented design that uses vertical logs in the corners.
Goal: The goal of Nordique Log Homes is to provide a quality, hand hewn log home package at a reasonable price. Their patented system allows for the construction of a log home that will not "settle", saving time and money.
History: Nordique System Log Homes was started by Bruce Janssen and Dan Baker in 1996 in the Swan Valley. In 1998, Ken Donovan purchased a third interest in the company and upon the passing of Bruce, the business has been owned by Baker and Donovan.
On April 2, 2002, Nordique recorded a patent on their building system thus allowing additional "dealers" to market their homes in 16 different states.
The unique application of a vertical log on the corners and along the walls at a 16 foot maximum distance creates a home that is "anatomically correct" with the weight of the roof system and any possible snow load to be carried along the linear axis of the vertical logs. Screw jacks, slip joints or space over the doors and windows are not needed, increasing the energy efficiency and reducing costs for Nordique's homes.
Products & Services: Nordique can build to any floor design without additional cost to the owner. Oblique angles, unique alcoves or varying wall heights can be built without the necessity of complicated carving and scribing. They offer design assistance, lot placement and view exposure ideas at no additional costs and can provide any log accessory needed to complete a home. All logs are hand peeled and hand scribed for exact and unique log placement.
The log shell is built in Nordique's log yard and the home is reset with their crew of log crafters if desired. A basic knowledge of carpentry is all that is necessary for the do-it-yourself owner or Nordique can work with the contractor for the carpentry phase of the home construction.
