Seeley Swan Pharmacy

Goal: Owner Karen Dove's goal is to meet the health care and medical needs of the community. She takes pride in filling prescriptions quickly and efficiently and treating all her customers' individual needs.

History: Dove received her bachelor of science in pharmaceuticals from the University of Montana in 1986. She was in the last class before the requirement to become a Medical Doctor prior to graduating. "I liked science and medicine and thought this profession was wise for a female because I can come and go with family," said Dove. "I like working with people and wanted to work in the community."

Dove worked as a pharmacist in three different states before moving to Montana. She worked at Health Care Plus in Seeley Lake prior to opening Seeley Swan Pharmacy July 21, 2008 in the Lazy Pine Mall. She chose that location because it had a safe parking lot and easy access for wheel chairs.

"I never thought I would own my own business," said Dove. "God has had his hand in this business since the beginning."

Dove is the sole employee. Pharmacist Jim Normark fills in for relief so Dove can take time off.

"I feel this is a community service," said Dove. "I love this community and want to be here for the people. Their health is very important to me."

Products & Services: Besides filling prescriptions, Dove offers over-the-counter medication; vitamins; skin, hair, dental and foot care products; first aid supplies; joint braces; personal hygiene products; watches; sunglasses; cards, wrapping paper and batteries. She also offers free blood pressure checks and can receive medications overnight if ordered by 6 p.m. the day before.
