POTOMAC - "When you can't get something you want, you learn to make it," said Carl Bock as he checked the proof of his next batch of Uncle Carl's Prohibition Style Whiskey at the Steel Toe Distillery in Potomac, Mont.
Steel Toe Distillery opened Nov. 8 at Bock's home above Union Creek and Hwy. 200 in the Blackfoot Valley. The former Wolfkeep Wildlife Sanctuary gift shop is now the production, aging and bottling area for the distillery.
Bock admits he began making whiskey at home after the Potomac Bar closed several years ago. The idea of a micro-distillery grew as a result.
