MISSOULA - Missoula County residents may see a new postcard arriving in their mailbox. As of Friday, May 20 the Missoula County Clerk of District Court’s office sent 10,000 notice of jury mailers. SWAN VALLEY - The Mission Mountains Mercantile (Merc) and Swan Valley Real Estate office were destroyed by fire in the early morning hours of May 18. No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The structure has been determined a total loss. At approximately 12:22 a.m. a fire was reported at the Merc on Highway 83. SEELEY LAKE – Seeley Lake resident Robert Kelley took his eight-year-old grandson Noah antler hunting for the first time when the Blackfoot/Clearwater Wildlife Management Area (Game Range) opened May 15. GREENOUGH - On May 9 at approximately 6 p.m. it was discovered that three tractors sitting in the Paws Up field near Hwy 200 at about mile post 28.5 were vandalized. A drill was used to puncture a hole in each of the 24 tires causing more than $26,000 worth of damage. The victim was a private contractor doing work for Paws Up. SEELEY LAKE – On Friday, May 20 someone from out of the area forced entry at a residence north of Seeley Lake on Highway 83. The intruder was stabbed by the resident and later transported to Missoula via ambulance. Charges are pending on the stabbed victim. SEELEY LAKE – Spring 2016 marks the fifth time Seeley-Swan High School (SSHS) teacher Trace Stone escorted a group of students to South America. The opportunity was open to any high school student willing to help raise the required funds, approximately $1,700 per person. SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Elementary (SLE) school board accepted the resignation of Brenda Ashmore and Angela Good from their current positions for the 2016-2017 school year. They also approved all the teachers and staff contracts with the exception of the physical education teacher. Ashmore will be retiring at the end of the year after 10 years at SLE. GREENOUGH – Sunset School students competed in Silverwood's Physics Day Roller Coaster contest May 18. They were one of 30 teams with students from junior high to high school age. SEELEY LAKE – Seeley Lake volunteer firefighters responded to a motorhome fire on Gull Port in Seeley Lake Monday, May 16 around 11:30 a.m. The fire was contained to the motorhome and a large enclosed car trailer.
