SWAN VALLEY – Kaylie Charlton, 24-year-old from the Garnet area near Drummond, Mont., was arrested Aug. 15 on several counts including burglary, assaulting a peace officer and carrying a concealed weapon. SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Sewer Board signed a letter of intent to meet revised conditions for funding from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development (RD). The board also voted to create sub districts in place of the current phases at its regular monthly meeting Aug. 18. The RD funding offer consists of 5.7 million dollars in grants and 4.4 million in loans. The district has already secured the balance of the 12.75 million dollar project mainly in the form of grants. SLE Outside store’s function and relationship to the school was also discussed at the Aug. 16 board meeting. (AAI), the opportunity to participate is open to any artists in the area that are willing to share their work. Displaying artists' work at the medical center was initiated by AAI. MISSOULA - Owen Raines, a Potomac Valley 4-Her along with his two-year-old Escondido Llama 'Cubby' competed in numerous events at the 2016 Western Montana Fair in Missoula, Mont. MISSOULA - The late Seeley Lake Trailblazer 4-H Club member Mark Teague’s steer raised more than $25,000 Saturday, Aug. 13 at the Western Montana Fair 4-H & FFA Livestock Sale. All of the proceeds raised from the sale of the animal will go into the Mark Teague Memorial Scholarship Fund to help future 4-Hers get started on a market beef project. SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Rural Fire District (District) received their new Type 1 ambulance in mid-July. The ambulance was put into service July 30 and will be the first unit to respond. The District is retaining the old ambulance as the secondary ambulance. SWAN VALLEY - The Piper Fire burning on the Swan Lake Ranger District within the Flathead National Forest continues to burn. The fire area received significant precipitation on Aug. 9 and 10 with amounts reaching approximately three quarters of an inch.
