Fire crews on Colt Fire have continued beating out flames to add containment lines and stop the spread of the to the east. The fire was mapped at 6,680 acres the evening of Aug. 1, and only increased 156 acres from the day prior. The fire is now 19% contained — all along Colt Creek Road. Critical fire weather caused the Colt fire to grow by 1,463 acres in the last 24 hours, with the fire beginning to run into containment lines set by fire crews. The fire was at 4,390 acres overnight Monday, July 24, with 0% containment. Zachary "Zack" Levi McElroy was born Nov 18, 1986 at Wenatchee, Washington on a Tuesday at 5:48 p.m. It was the first snow of the season in the Wenatchee Valley. He weighed seven pounds even and was only 19 and three quarters of an inch long. Proof that big things in life come in small packages. 26 SOS Levy Fails A proposed mill levy which would have raised approximately $15,690 for the SOS Hospital District over the next two years failed during local elections last Tuesday. Seeley Lake residents approved the levy by a vote of 98 to 56. Swan Valley and Sunset (Greenough) area voters, however, defeated the levy by a wide margin.
