The Seeley Lake Elementary School board consented to a proposed levy at a meeting last Wednesday, March 15, before discussing issues of staffing, hiring, and a staff complaint involving unclear contract language. The board voted in support of enacting a general operating fund levy for 2024 in the amount of $23,864.86 which will annual taxes on a $100,00 home by $3.21. and $6.43 for a $200,00 home. The Seeley Lake Community Foundation, in partnership with Missoula-based nonprofit Recycling Works, is offering free glass recycling in Seeley Lake via three Saturday drop-off events this year. The glass recycling drop-off events will be from 10am until 2pm on April 15, July 15, and October 15, 2023. The Seeley Elementary School Board is preparing the installation of the new playground which will replace the school’s much-beloved Eagle’s Nest structure with a new plastic one that will be more weather resistant and some say, safer. SWAN VALLEY - Dennis W. Jette, a long-time Swan Valley resident, passed away in Kalispell January 27, 2023 with his beloved wife, Billie and his step-daughter, Charlene Bartell, at his side. Now 80-years-old, Hawkins was the longest-serving MAS foster grandparent in Missoula County working with the Seeley Lake Elementary preschool for 18 years.
