SEELEY LAKE – At the Seeley Lake Fire Board Sept. 21 meeting, the Fire Chief Dave Lane provided updates regarding calls, grants and staffing. As of August 2021, the Department has responded to 267 calls this year, up 66 calls from August 2020. This is a 24% increase. Lane said he believes this is the highest call volume the District has had to-date based on historic call records he has found. SEELEY LAKE – Seeley-Swan Search and Rescue were called out at approximately 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 to look for two snowmobilers from Arlee who got off the trail south of Fawn Peak and could not find a trail out. SSSAR worked through the night in difficult weather and terrain and rescued the snowmobilers and returned to the Westside Trailhead by 6 a.m. Sunday morning. SEELEY LAKE – More than 50 people gathered on the lawn north of the Seeley Lake 1-Stop Saturday, Sept. 26 to join in prayer for the community, state and nation. Their conversation centered around working together to best serve the community through the coronavirus pandemic. SEELEY LAKE – Josh Gibbs accepted a two-year contract to become Seeley Lake Elementary's superintendent. Seeley Lake Elementary School Board voted unanimously to offer the position to him at their March 11 meeting. There were more than ten applicants for the superintendent position. After reviewing applications, the board chose six to interview. Following the close of the Special District filing deadline Feb. 10, Seeley Lake Sewer Board is currently the only Special District election that will appear on the May 5 mail-in ballot. However, citizens can apply to be a write-in candidate until March 2. If someone does apply as a write-in candidate, this could trigger an election if there are more candidates than positions. SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Elementary School Board voted at their Jan. 21 meeting to not renew Superintendent Daniel Schrock’s contract but invited him to reapply for the job. Ahead of the decision, the Board preformed an evaluation of Schrock. He waived his rights to privacy allowing the public to remain in the meeting. SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Elementary School board approved Seeley Lake ROCKS installing a permanent light and temporary storage unit for the Ice Skating Rink this winter. The board also discussed an estimated $51,456 reduction in next year’s budget based on declining enrollment and the lack of funding for preschool next year. SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Elementary School Board hired three new teachers, appointed a new board trustee and approved a parent request for a student to enter kindergarten at a special meeting July 10.
