SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks had a busy week hosting Clark Fork Sept. 29 and Drummond Oct. 1 and traveled to Darby Oct. 3. The Lady Blackhawks made quick work of the Clark Fork Co-op Mountain Cats defeating them in three sets 25-20, 25-8 and 25-12. PHILIPSBURG – The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks headed up Flint Creek to face the Titans Oct. 2. The Blackhawks had a good opening drive, marching the ball all the way down to within the 10-yard line before being shut down by the Titan’s defense. After the initial success, the Blackhawks found themselves up the creek without a paddle. DEER LODGE – According to Head Coach Shawn Holmes, the Seeley-Swan Blackhawks cross country team had a good showing at the meet in Deer Lodge Saturday, Oct. 3. As of press, the times had not been posted. Sariah Maughan and Kyla Conley led the race finishing first and second for the girls. SEELEY LAKE - Justina I. Henkel, age 93, of Seeley Lake, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at her home. She was born on March 28, 1927, in Kitzingen, Germany, to Franz and Maria Magdalena Homer Hart. She was a teenager in Hitler's Youth Army. At the end of World War II, she married Daniel Henkel and she came to America in the early 1950's by boat from the North Sea through the English Channel to Ellis Island, New York.
