SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lakes ROCKS Board would like to add their voice to the praises currently being sung (and the great January coverage in the Pathfinder) for the 2022 cross country ski grooming at the Seeley Creek Nordic Trails. The volunteers seriously deserve to be spotlighted and commended for the winter recreational service they are providing to this community and to regional cross-country skiers. For years, cross country skiers have marveled at efforts behind the volunteer and excellent Seeley Lake trails grooming. This year,...
SEELEY LAKE - On Friday, July 24th, a ROCKS work party spent 50+ hours on the new “Lakeview” trail just north of Placid Lake State Park. This work-party improved drainage on the trails that ROCKS constructed last August-September and pulled weeds. This is the second time this summer that the “Youth In Restoration” group associated with the Missoula County Weed District has helped ROCKS with the Lakeview trail. In June 25 volunteers from this same group pulled weeds along the trail. Last fall ROCKS scheduled three different weed-sp...
So here is the best news of all – you don't even have to be athletic by nature to enjoy some of the work ROCKS is doing to promote fun outdoor activities. While a big part of ROCKS efforts are winter-based, with the ski trails and the skating rinks, springtime turns the local focus to enjoying more of the multi-use (hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding) trails above Placid Lake. Living in the pristine natural area of the Seeley Swan, the ROCKS team is working hard to promote free c...

SEELEY LAKE - Seeley Lake ROCKS is thrilled to be building non-motorized, multi-use recreation trails near Placid Lake State Park in the Hill-16 recreation area. We cleared more than two miles of old logging roads last fall and will continue our work this spring and summer. Funding will allow us to construct three and a half miles of new connector trails, vastly improve the logging road trails and to construct three trailhead parking areas. [You can help promote our grant application at the end...

Have you ever wondered why you feel so great after a swim in Rainey Lake, a walk to Morrell Falls or a bike ride around Seeley Lake? Is it the refreshing exercise? Is it the awe-inspiring scenery? Could it be the wonderful smells? Florence Williams, in her book “The Nature Fix” argues it is all of these and more. We are incredibly blessed in Seeley Lake. Two wilderness areas, abundant lakes and rivers, verdant forests and amazing trails surround us. There is no better place to experience “The Nature Fix.” Have you “lost track of time” whi...
SEELEY LAKE - We would like to sincerely thank our hosts, partners, volunteers and racers that made the 2017 Seeley Lake ROCKS Peter Hale Race a huge success.
