SEELEY LAKE - Residents of Dogtown received an update on the issue of county road maintenance, or lack there of, at the Seeley Lake Community Council meeting Dec. 11. The Seeley Lake Sewer cleared another hurdle this week as the protest period came to a close Dec. 18. Landowners had until the close of the business day to file their written protest against the proposed Levy of Special Assessment. Approximately 42 percent of landowners attempted to protest. The district rejected about two percent of those protests. The rejected protests didn’t change the outcome of the protest. The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks took on Big Fork and Clark Fork last week. Class B Big Fork outclassed both teams Dec. 5. While the Boys found success against the Clark Fork Mountain Cats, the Girls fell to the district foe Dec. 9. The Boys ran into a wall at Big Fork early in the game, falling behind 6-29 in the first quarter. SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Swan Pathfinder ran an online survey during the month of October asking readers about the impacts of the Rice Ridge Fire. The goal was to quantify some of those impacts and gauge public perception of the fire. The Pathfinder received 168 responses to the survey. Full-time residents made up 60% of the responders, 30% were part-time residents or visitors and 10% were resident business owners. MISSOULA - The Missoula County Commissioners approved a grant to help lower the initial operating and maintenance (O&M) of the proposed Seeley Lake sewer at their Oct. 25 administrative meeting. SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake Community Council got back on schedule with their meeting Oct. 9. It was the first meeting since the spring after all of the summer meetings were canceled due to lack of quorum or the Rice Ridge Fire. SEELEY LAKE – It is no secret that the Rice Ridge Fire took a huge toll on our community mentally, physically and economically. This also happened in 2007 during the Jocko Lakes Fire.
