    There is a lot riding on upcoming local elections with many opinions being shared on different sides of issues. However there is a lack of candidates. With nearly 30 positions up for election there is currently only eight candidates signed up. If there are not enough candidates most of these positions will be filled either through acclimation or the boards will have to try and find people to appoint to remaining vacancies.     SEELEY LAKE – It was open season on cats for the Lady Blackhawks as they decimated the Clark Fork Mountain Cats Jan. 31 and the St. Regis Tigers Feb. 1. The Boys lost a tight game with Clark Fork and then fell to St. Regis.     SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Elementary School Board voted at their Jan. 21 meeting to not renew Superintendent Daniel Schrock’s contract but invited him to reapply for the job. Ahead of the decision, the Board preformed an evaluation of Schrock. He waived his rights to privacy allowing the public to remain in the meeting.     SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks and Blackhawks each added a pair of wins to their records last week on the road facing Valley Christian Jan. 24 and Granite Jan. 25. The Boys’ season record now stands at 11-1 while the Ladies have a 10-2 season record. The Lady Blackhawks decimated Valley Christian, holding them to two or less baskets per quarter.     SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Sewer District Board had another light agenda Jan. 16 as the District works on final details leading up to the proposed project going to bid.     SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks Boys racked up a pair of wins while the Lady Blackhawks split the week as the teams faced the Charlo Vikings and Lincoln Lynx on the road Jan. 10 and 11. The Blackhawks took a commanding lead over the Vikings in the first half.     SUPERIOR – The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks took on the Clark Fork Co-op Mountain Cats Jan. 3 on the road.     SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks' first home game of the season was against Valley Christian Eagles Dec. 19. Friday they headed to Hot Springs to face the Savage Heat. The Boys got off on the wrong foot falling behind the Horsemen 12 points in the first quarter with half those points coming from Horsemen free throws.     MISSOULA – District Court Judge Leslie Halligan ruled on a pair of motions from Missoula County and the Seeley Lake Sewer District seeking to dismiss the lawsuit originally filed by Don Larson. The Court Orders granted the County’s request to be dismissed and granted parts of the District’s motion but denied dismissing the entire case against the District.
