On Tuesday, May 30, Bethany Hoag hung the new track and field record board next to the entrance of the gymnasium. "The final product is the most fun to see," said 14-year-old Hoag.   • New Law Requires Anglers to Purchase Prevention Pass

    Anglers in Montana are now required to buy an additional pass to fish in the state. The mandatory Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Prevention Pass was part of Senate Bill 363 which was signed by Gov. Steve Bullock Thursday, May 24. The pass must be purchased once a year in addition to a fishing license.     SEELEY LAKE-Bozeman businessman Greg Gianforte won the special election for Montana's lone house seat Thursday, May 25. The Associated Press called the race just after 10:30 p.m. Gianforte defeated Democratic nominee Rob Quist by more than 20,000 votes, receiving 50.2 percent compared to Quist's 44.1 percent.     OVANDO - Around 60 people attended the Ovando School's annual May Day Tea Wednesday, May 24. The eight students spent their year learning world geography and the event was a way to showcase what they had learned.     SEELEY LAKE-The Seeley-Swan High School boys golf team finished first in the Class C State golf tournament, held at the Double Arrow Golf Course Wednesday, May 17. This is the second state title for the Blackhawks in the last three years. The team, made up of seniors McKinley Nicholas, Bo Jungers, Shane Lindemer and freshman Malachi Nicholas, opened the tournament with a combined score of 262 on Tuesday to gain an 8-stroke lead.     LINCOLN - Saturday, June 3 is National Trails Day. The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation will be holding a volunteer workday event in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service. Volunteers will clear trails around the Indian Meadows trailhead near Lincoln. There will be a tailgate barbeque after the workday. Volunteers must be at least 12 and may be using pulaskis, loppers or cross cut saws to clear trees and do trail maintenance. The event starts at 8 a.m. at the Lincoln Ranger Station.
