I find it interesting and intriguing that Mr. Keith Virga found the need to write a letter to the Editor in the May 10th Pathfinder. His support of Freshman Representative Hopkins is his right, as is mine to support and promote Mr. Derek (DJ) Smith, a strong conservative Republican. It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to look at an idea without agreeing with it. (Aristotle) I am on the ballot and filed my C-1 in December of 2016. If I did not think then that I was better qualified than Mr. Hopkins, why file? I have followed the...
The upcoming primary election for House District 92 has three candidates for the Republican ticket, two of which are excellently qualified to be your Representatives: “DJ” Derek Smith and myself Larry Dunham. We are both Conservative Republicans with a firm belief in encouraging and protecting the economy of our district and that of Montana as a whole. The current Representative Mike Hopkins’ voting record has shown him to be a weak and liberal leaning Republican. I firmly believe that he has shown his colors and we need to replace him and t...
SWAN VALLEY - I read in the Feb. 23 issue of the Pathfinder about the article, “Condon House Fire Total Loss”. What a great group of volunteers we have in the Swan Valley Emergency Services! They responded to this house fire at midnight on a cold winter night, to find the driveway to the house pretty much impassible to the fire truck. They were not deterred—they chained up the truck and BACKED it down the quarter mile of curving driveway to respond. Unfortunately, the fire was fully involved before they got there (maybe even before they were...
“Voices of Montana” had an interview with Bob Rowe, the CEO of Northwestern Energy, a couple of days ago. “Voices of Montana” is a statewide radio talk show broadcast on KJJR, Kalispell, and also available by streaming on computer. Mr. Rowe noted that Northwestern Energy uses hydroelectric, solar, wind energy as well as coal power. Missoula Electric Cooperative also uses all these sources for power. He stated that last Thanksgiving, while it was so cold and stormy in the Northwest, all these sources of energy were being used to capacity, includ...
Since Republican David "Doc" Moore is not running for House District 92 (HD 92), Condon resident Larry Dunham submitted his application for the Republican ticket. "I will get informed, get involved, get it right," said Dunham. "My belief is to act, not react and trust but verify." HD 92 includes Condon, Seeley Lake, Clearwater Junction, Potomac, Bonner, Milltown, East Missoula, Turah and Clinton. Dunham was raised in Bozeman, Mont. and graduated from Montana State University, Bozeman. Upon...
